Sean Linley appointed manager of Newcastle office in leadership transition
CARTER Burnett is delighted to announce that experienced Costs expert Sean Linley has been appointed as the new manager of our Newcastle office, an important milestone in our continued growth journey.
Since joining us when our North East office opened in July 2021, Sean has established himself as the go-to authority in the Costs profession, earning a deserved reputation as one of the UK’s leading Costs specialists.
His appointment follows the departure of Seamus Kelly, who is leaving to pursue a new chapter in his career as a barrister, having been instrumental in establishing and growing our presence in Newcastle.
Reflecting on the leadership transition, joint Managing Director Lee Carter said: “Seamus has made an invaluable contribution to shape our success in the North East, whilst also consistently delivering outstanding advocacy on behalf of clients.
“Although we are sad to see him move on, he leaves with our very best wishes. We are delighted to see his career progress and are confident he will make an excellent barrister. I will miss reading his thoughtful and persuasive Points of Reply.
“Sean has been an integral member of the team and is the natural choice to lead us into this exciting new chapter. He has gone from strength to strength during his time with us and we have every confidence Sean will excel in this exciting next step of his career.”
Clearly excited for what lies ahead, Sean said: “I feel incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by such talented colleagues and I’m genuinely excited for what lies ahead. Their support and energy continue to motivate me and I’m deeply grateful for the trust placed in me as we move into this next chapter.
“Seamus’ guidance and support have meant a great deal to me. He is a good friend and I have no doubt he’ll thrive in his new role as a Barrister.”
This managerial transition not only underlines our confidence in Sean and the strength of our Newcastle team; it also provides another exciting growth opportunity following our recent move to new offices in Clavering House.
Welcoming the new era, joint Managing Director Jon-Paul Burnett added: “Sean is a pleasure to work with and will be a key member of the senior management team, helping us to progress the business as a whole whilst maintaining the exceptionally high standards and outcomes we are known for achieving.
“Seamus is an excellent advocate and I want to thank him for all his hard work. I have no doubt he will be a formidable barrister and wish him every success in the future.”
