Ioannis Koutsouridis

Costs Draftsperson

Ioannis is delighted to be establishing himself in the legal profession after completing a Masters in Company Law from Durham University, having previously graduated with a First Class Honours in Law from Northumbria University.

Originally from Cyprus, Ioannis speaks Greek, English, and some Russian. Before pursuing a legal career, he worked as a construction assistant, an experience that refined his negotiation, communication and organisational skills.

Outside of work, Ioannis is the proud owner of two budgies (who often perch on his shoulder like a pirate’s companion) and a dedicated video game enthusiast. Some of his favourite games include Devil May Cry, Uncharted and Days Gone. He’s also a keen amateur footballer and can often be found on the tennis court a couple of times a week.

What music do you like?

I’ll listen to anything really – from hip-hop to pop and everything in between. It usually depends what mood I’m in.

What’s your favourite food?

I really like a good loaded burger served with triple-cooked homemade fries. I also enjoy trying new restaurants and flavours, but I’m a big fan of Chickalicious in Newcastle.

What film or boxset would you recommend to others?

Horror movies tend to be my favourites, especially if they are realistic. I would recommend The Super Mario Bros Movie – which is one of the best video game adaptations to date. TV wise, I like true crime so I’d have to say Worst Roommate Ever, which is about roommates who turn out to be deceptive and dangerous.

Do you have a favourite holiday destination?

Cyprus because I miss my family, my homeland and the sunshine.

What famous person would you most like to meet and why?

Socrates - to become his student, learn some of his wisdom and work with him on creating written works containing his thoughts and knowledge.

How would you describe yourself in 5 words?

Passionate, caring, thoughtful, loyal and hard working.

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?

Small and consistent steps will eventually lead to big achievements - enjoy the journey.
