Darcy Clark

Costs Lawyer

Always professional and positive, Darcy successfully completed her studies to become a qualified Costs Lawyer in 2024 and her continued progress has seen her take on management responsibilities for a small team in our Beverley office.

Before embarking on her legal career, Darcy gained a Masters in History from the University of Hull, meaning she is great at analysing facts and brings critical thinking to complex issues.

Since moving to Beverley from her hometown of Guisborough, Darcy has become the proud owner of a Cocker Spaniel called Wilf, who always receives a warm welcome when he arrives in our office every afternoon.

What are your main interests or hobbies?

I like to stay active by going to the gym, lifting weights and taking part in Clubbercise which offers all the music and highs of a night out but without the hangover! I also enjoy going for long dog walks in and around Beverley with Wilf, especially in the Yorkshire Wolds and use the All-Trails App to find new routes.

What music do you like – any specific genre or artists?

I’m a huge Indie and Britpop fan and my playlist is full of different bands but my all-time favourite is Arctic Monkeys and I also love listening to Oasis, Pulp, The Last Shadow Puppets and Wolf Alice.

What’s your favourite food?

I’m a pretty good cook and enjoy making traditional dishes, especially salmon and new potatoes, but I love Thai food and would probably order a Red Thai Curry in a restaurant.

What TV show, film or boxset would you recommend to others?

I'm a massive Downton Abbey fan and have watched every season. Gavin & Stacey is another essential – pure comfort viewing.

Do you have a favourite book and why?

I like to read when I’ve got spare time, especially on holiday. My favourite book is Unruly: A History of England's Kings and Queens by David Mitchell, who brings his comedic and conversational style to the history of the British monarchy.

Do you have a favourite holiday destination or place you’d love to visit?

After visiting Croatia previously, I would love to go back as it is a fantastic place. I would love to explore Dubrovnik because of its history and special scenery.

Do you have a favourite podcast?

Table Manners with singer Jessie Ware and her mum Lennie is great food-focused podcast where they invite a celebrity guest into their home to have a conversation about food and everything in-between over a meal. It’s very funny and you genuinely feel like you’re sat around the dinner table with them. I also like listening to Off Menu with comedians Ed Gamble and James Acaster, where guests come on and choose their ideal starter, main, side, dessert and drink, because it often includes a number of hilarious tangents.

What smartphone App could you not live without?

I love Spotify for listening to podcasts and music, but I also like watching funny videos on TikTok and Instagram.

How would you describe yourself in 5 words?

Approachable, organised, encouraging, meticulous and dedicated.

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?

Don’t care too much about what other people think. Just do you and be more confident.
