Litigation expertise recognised as Nick Northrop earns Chartered Legal Executive status
CARTER Burnett is thrilled to further strengthen the expertise of its litigation team following Nick Northrop’s qualification as a Chartered Legal Executive.
With over 30 years’ experience in the legal industry, Nick is a specialist in technical costs disputes as well as commercial and personal injury cases.
His expertise in complex, high-value cases has now been formally recognised with the award of his Qualification Certificate as a Chartered Legal Executive Litigator and Advocate (Civil Litigation), quickly following on from his qualification as a Costs Lawyer in August 2025.
Reflecting on the milestone, the 52-year-old said: “Achieving this qualification at this stage of my career makes it particularly meaningful. It reinforces the message that professional development is possible at any point, and that it is never too late to invest in learning and personal growth.
“The journey has involved long hours, determination and moments of self-doubt, but I am extremely proud to have reached this goal. I would encourage anyone considering the next step in their professional development to continue learning and progressing, regardless of their stage of life or career.”
Before joining us in April last year, Nick spent eight years as Head of Costs at a major national law firm, having previously been a National Costs Manager and Practice Manager. From his base in Devon, he acts as the Head of our South of England operations.
He joins Solicitor Advocate Mike Dyer and Solicitor Adam Hood as members of our team with the litigation and advocacy rights to represent clients in court, whilst Fern Joyce is also a Chartered Legal Executive.
Managing Director Lee Carter added: “Nick’s achievement further strengthens our litigation team and underlines our commitment to providing clients with comprehensive, high-quality representation in complex Legal Costs disputes.
“We now have several team members with litigation and advocacy rights, ensuring we can offer clients advocacy support both at Costs Management and Detailed Assessment stages.”
