Thomas Kelly - Trainee Costs Draftsman

Approachable and easy to get along with, Thomas is now on the second step of his legal career as a Trainee Costs Draftsman after previously working as a Claims Handler at a solicitors firm in Newcastle.

Having left South Shields to earn a degree in Media and Marketing from Leeds Trinity University, he enjoyed two six-month spells coaching football in America before returning to his North East roots. When he’s not socialising with friends, you’ll probably find Thomas watching football or going for a run. He regularly does 10km and is planning to do a half marathon in the near future.

What are your main interests or hobbies?
I like running and going to the gym, and I play five-a-side football with my friends every Thursday. I’m a Manchester United supporter so I also watch quite a lot of football on TV.

What’s your favourite food?
It’s probably a close call between authentic Thai Red Curry with mussels or a classic Italian Fiorentina pizza, which has wilted spinach and a fried egg on top.

What film or boxset would you recommend to others?
I’m a massive fan of The Office with Ricky Gervais, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Arrested Development. I’d also recommend Game of Thrones to anybody who hasn’t seen it yet.

What music do you like – any specific genre or artists?
I don’t mind listening to anything really, but my favourite genres are grime, rap and techno.

What would be your ideal holiday?
It’s not very well known but the small Spanish coastal town of Javea, which is halfway between Valencia and Alicante in eastern Spain, is amazing. We have a holiday home there and we go every summer. Peaceful and picturesque.

What person would you most like to meet?
I’m really into comedy and love watching stand-up comedians, so I would have to say either John Cleese, Kevin Bridges or Ricky Gervais.

What are your pet hates?
Snoring and loud eaters. There’s no need for either!

How would you describe yourself in 5 words?
Personable, calm, hardworking, precise and fun.

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?
Stop worrying. Relax. It will all work out in the end.
