CARTER Burnett is celebrating success – and can now boast a Solicitor Advocate amongst its ranks – after seeing Seamus Kelly achieve his ‘Higher Rights of Audience’ qualification.
An experienced solicitor who practices exclusively in costs, Seamus has worked in the legal sector since completing his Law Degree in 2006.
Having successfully secured this acclaimed qualification from BPP, he can now exercise Rights of Audience in civil courts of all levels, including the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court – giving him the same Rights of Audience as a barrister.
Reflecting on his achievement, Seamus said: “I regularly attend CCMCs, oral reviews, preliminary issue hearings and detailed assessments and I wanted to achieve Solicitor Advocate status so I could represent clients at any case level.
“It’s important to continually push yourself to improve and this course has helped me develop both my advocacy skills and techniques.
“Hopefully, the qualification will act as a mark of quality and provide extra reassurance for clients who’ll know I have the necessary level of advocacy needed to achieve the desired outcome.”
Commenting on the success, director Lee Carter added: “Seamus has worked exceptionally hard to achieve this prestigious qualification, whilst juggling his ongoing case commitments, and he deserves huge credit. It will be fantastic to have a Solicitor Advocate in our team.
“Since joining us, he has established a great reputation as a hard-working and thorough Solicitor and I’m certain his expertise will continue to help Carter Burnett go from strength to strength.”
