DIRECTOR Lee Carter hopes the knowledge and insight shared at our 2021 Law Costs Conference will inspire everyone in attendance.

Held in association with Parklane Plowden Chambers, the free event attracted a near-capacity crowd at Alderman Fenwick House in Newcastle.

Abigail Telford, a Barrister and member of the Pupillage Committee, and Stuart Jamieson, a Barrister & Deputy District Judge (Civil) were on hand to provide expert analysis of the latest issues affecting costs in Clinical Negligence and high-value Personal Injury claims. They also gave some excellent insight into the recent Supreme Court ruling in Ho v Adelekun

Seamus Kelly, our in-house Solicitor Advocate, spoke at length about the recent increase in the Guideline Hourly Rates and the practical implications.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Lee Carter said: “The amount of positive feedback we’ve received since staging the Conference has been really pleasing.

“The knowledge that Seamus, Stuart and Abigail shared was superb – and you couldn’t help but learn from what they were saying.

“Stuart’s expertise really shone through during the in-depth discussion about Ho v Adelekun and he gave some great insight into the principles of QOCS and ‘fundamental dishonesty’ which was discussed at length.

“It was great to see so many people in attendance - the atmosphere was electric.

“Hopefully, the event will motivate everyone who came to stringently challenge costs and we look forward to seeing even more people next year.”
