As another year draws to a close, we reflect on an eventful 2024. From welcoming new team members to celebrating remarkable achievements, it’s been a year of growth, collaboration and success.

January
We kicked off the year by welcoming the highly-experienced Stephen Regnauld to our team and he has already proven to be a valuable asset to us and our clients.

February
Sean Linley and Seamus Kelly held our first training talk of the year at the Liverpool Law Society to share insights with fellow professionals, and we also introduced our Ready Reckoner tool to help assess prospects of success and success fee levels before entering a CFA.

March
We headed to the AvMA Conference to meet new people, engage with attendees and answer questions about Costs.
Karolina Kot and Darcy Clark both qualified as Costs Lawyers after years of dedicated studying in their own time, and Catherine Teal represented us at Scarborough University’s Law Day.

April
Seamus Kelly again went above and beyond, traveling extensively across the UK to conduct CCMC Hearings. We were also on the hunt for new a team member and welcomed applications from experienced Costs Lawyers and Draftsmen.

May
Sports sponsorships brought us moments of pride and celebration as we cheered Beverley Town to success in their NCEL Division One Play-Off Final and celebrated East Riding Futsal Club’s promotion to the top tier after clinching the FA National Futsal Series T2 North title. Supporting these fantastic teams has been an honour!

June
After many months of planning, June marked the launch of our Fixed Recoverable Costs (FRC) team, led by Sean Linley, dedicated to helping clients navigate complex FRC legislation.
We also enjoyed a fantastic team-building day at the Roxy Ball Room in York – a competitive and fun-filled day for the Newcastle and Beverley offices, including bowling and darts.

July
Our Newcastle office celebrated its third anniversary – under the leadership of Seamus Kelly and Sean Linley. We also attended the Newcastle Upon Tyne Law Society Summer Reception to help raise funds for LawCare.

August
Sean Linley penned a thought-provoking article on the uncertainties surrounding the new Fixed Costs regime for Clinical Negligence claims in ARAG UK, highlighting potential challenges which were widely discussed in the legal community.

September
The APIL Conference provided an incredible platform to connect with law practices from across the country. We also renewed our sponsorship of the North East Women’s Lawyers Division (WLD), reaffirming our commitment to empowering women in law, along with sponsoring the Whickham FC Under-11s Girls team for the upcoming season.

October
Our annual Costs Law Conference was a major highlight of the year – and proved to be a massive success in Newcastle. Dr Victoria McCloud delivered an insightful talk on mediation and costs, sparking important conversations about the future of ADR.
In team news, we celebrated Lara Sharp earning a Training Contract to become a Solicitor and welcomed Charlie McKie as a Trainee Costs Draftsman in our Beverley office. Both are embarking on exciting journeys in their legal careers.

November
Sean Linley’s latest thoughts on Clinical Negligence FRC reforms were featured in the Law Gazette, adding a crucial voice to the ongoing debate to the reforms which remain uncertain.

December
The festive season brought joy and celebration as our teams in Newcastle and Beverley came together for Christmas parties, sharing a lot of laughs to close another successful year.
Massive thanks to our team, clients and partners for all your help – and here’s to continued success and collaboration in 2025!
