It's been another unforgettable year for all our team – take a look at the most significant highlights!

January
Raegan Butler and Alice Dean get the New Year off to a great start as they become fully-qualified Costs Lawyers, having successfully passed their ACL exams following three years of extensive study.

February
We’re delighted to kick off a strategic period of growth with the appointment of seven new team members, as four new trainee Costs Lawyers take up roles in our Beverley office with a further three also joining our team in Newcastle.

March
It’s a very happy fifth birthday to us!
To celebrate five successful years in business, we put on a pizza and prosecco lunch followed by a night out in Beverley with our Newcastle team also holding their own celebration in the North East.

April
Following a varied and distinguished law career, long-serving Andrew Russell retires with a glowing tribute from Jon-Paul Burnett.
Paying tribute to Andrew’s immense contribution, he said: “Andrew has always been a pleasure to work with and has done amazing work. We wish him a very healthy and happy retirement.”
Having served as a Police Officer, Detective, Personal Injury Lawyer and Costs Draftsman; Andrew’s depth of legal knowledge is sorely missed.

May
Seamus Kelly is rewarded for his hard work and leadership with a place on the board.
After manging our Newcastle office since it opened in June 2021, whilst successfully juggling his own caseload, Seamus continues to play a key strategic role in our North East expansion plans.

June
With the new Fixed Recoverable Costs rules set to be introduced in October, we team up with Parklane Plowden Chambers to stage a specialist Costs Q&A at their Leeds HQ with Barrister Stuart Jamieson joining our list of headline speakers.

July
Barristers Abigail Telford and Andrea Barnes agree to join HHJ Mark Gosnell as the guests of honour and speak at our annual Law Costs Conference in October, schedule just two weeks after the new Extension to Fixed Recoverable Costs rules comes into effect.

August
We celebrate the end of summer by getting our entire team together for a Summer Social event in York… a nice walk around the walls, followed by a lovely meal, a few drinks – and plenty of fun!

September
We are thrilled to help an important grassroots sports club after agreeing to become the main front of shirt sponsor for Beverley Town under-13s for the 2023-24 season.

October
With the long-awaited Fixed Recoverable Costs reforms coming into effect on October 1, our annual Law Costs Conference is packed out as practitioners get up to date with all the changes.
His Honour Judge Mark Gosnell, Barrister Abigail Telford and Barrister Andrea Barnes attract a bumper crowd, supported by our in-house Costs experts Sean Linley and Seamus Kelly.

November
It’s a sad day for our Newcastle office as Cherisay Julliet leaves to complete her studies for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination, having been with us since our North East opening in June 2021.

December
Seamus Kelly and Sean Linley continue to share their in-depth Fixed Recoverable Costs knowledge with training seminars on behalf of the Newcastle Upon Tyne Law Society and the Leeds & District Medico-Legal Society.
After previously staging similar events in Hull, Liverpool and Derby; it has proven to be a very busy year for our in-house Costs experts.
Darcy Clark and Karolina Kot sit their final ACL exam, so we’ve all got our fingers crossed that we will soon have two more qualified Cost Lawyers added to our ranks.
