DIRECTORS Lee Carter and Jon-Paul Burnett have heaped praise on Andrew Russell’s knowledge and professionalism after he decided to retire following a long, varied and distinguished law career.

Having served as a Police Officer, Detective, Personal Injury Lawyer and Costs Draftsman; Andrew’s love for the law has never been in doubt and his knowledge will be sorely missed following his Easter retirement.

Ahead of his 70th birthday celebrations in October, Andrew believes that now is the right time to bow out so that he can spend more time walking his dog, Barney, with his wife Penny. He also became a Grandad recently and will no doubt be looking forward to helping with little Freddie.

Paying tribute to Andrew’s immense contribution at Carter Burnett, founder Jon-Paul said: “Andrew has been with us almost from the start of our journey after working with some of us previously beforehand too.

“He has always been such a pleasure to work with over the years and has done amazing work with Costs Budgeting and on the technical Points of Reply . I want to thank him for all his hard work over the years and I am sure everyone will join me and Lee in wishing Andrew a very healthy and happy retirement.”

Having started his career with a 12-year spell as an officer and detective with Merseyside Police, an injury forced Andrew to switch paths and he joined Langley’s Solicitors as a lawyer practicing on personal injury cases.

After a spell working on Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence claims, he joined Pryers Solicitors in York, where he was responsible for a large caseload and supervising the Personal Injury Department.

It was here that he first met Jon-Paul and Lee, who he teamed up with again in 2018 when agreeing to bring his first-class understanding of running multi-track cases to trial and excellent costs management and budgeting knowledge to Carter Burnett.

During his time with us, Andrew has shown great skill and expertise of the law, regularly preparing cost budgets for Costs Case Management Conferences to achieve excellent results for our clients.

Having worked alongside him for around 15 years, director Lee Carter will miss Andrew’s wealth of knowledge and experience.

“Andrew is a fountain of knowledge, both as a Personal Injury litigator right through to Costs Budgeting and Costs Management,” reflected Lee.

“The fact he used to run actual cases means that he understands every step of the process and how to prepare for Trial. He is used to Defendant challenges, any difficulties that are likely to be faced and he knows the industry inside and out. He will definitely be missed by myself, Jon-Paul and all of the team.”
